Did you know that each of the Five Buddha families represent a particular expression or aspect of the awakened state of enlightenment? Although we each embody all the five aspects of Buddha nature, it can be helpful for us to find our predominant expression in one of the five families. We then have the opportunity to transform any illusory states of confusion that obscure these innate wisdoms into our true nature of compassion and wisdom. Which family resonates with you?

The Jewel Family: the South is represented by Ratnasambhava and his Dakini Mamaki. The vehicle is the horse or lion; the symbol is the jewel. Color is yellow; element is earth.

Enlightened Aspect: Wisdom of Equality. Mirror-like awareness that objectively and non-judgmentally reflects a situation, leading to a sense of order and cohesiveness. Equanimity and equality encompass everything. Precise, resourceful, clear, well organized, generous and appreciative.

Confusion: rigid regarding rules and order, immobilizing others; picky, oppressive, pouty when things don't go accordingly; territorial, arrogant, ostentatious and emotionally needy.

The illusion of pride is transformed into the quality of equanimity by seeing all aspects of phenomena as part of the rich display of life.
