Did you know that each of the Five Buddha families represent a particular expression or aspect of the awakened state of enlightenment? Although we each embody all the five aspects of Buddha nature, it can be helpful for us to find our predominant expression in one of the five families. We then have the opportunity to transform any illusory states of confusion that obscure these innate wisdoms into our true nature of compassion and wisdom. Which family resonates with you?

The Lotus Family: the West is represented by Amitabha and his Dakini Pandara. The vehicle is the peacock; the symbol is the lotus.  Color is red; element is fire.

Enlightened Aspect: Discriminating Wisdom. A healthy self-regard for self and others with ability to nurture equally. Discriminating awareness without bias.  Engaging, charming, heartfelt, encouraging; loving, compassionate and intuitive.  Listens deeply and speaks from the heart.

Confusion: obsessive pleasure seeking and grasping; judgmental, stingy, and arrogant. Loquacious and giving of too much information; giving to others for own benefit and pride; suffocating and needy.

The illusion of grasping is transformed into discriminating wisdom by mindful awareness to the details of all the qualities of life's offerings
