Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means wheel and refers to a system of seven basic energy centers that carry energy, or prana, throughout the body. Open and balanced chakras lead to optimal health, vitality and consciousness.
The third chakra: Fire, ego identity, oriented to self-definition. It is located in the solar plexus and is known as the power chakra. It is the storehouse of energy that distributes prana or life force throughout the entire system, allowing us to project our creative visions into the world thereby becoming creators of our own destiny.
When out of balance, we can become victims of fate and circumstance; allow others to control us by seeking reassurance and validation; or become needy, controlling and demanding. When in balance, we feel energized, effective, confident and have healthy self-esteem.
This chakra is linked to the color yellow and to the sun and mars. It responds to music that has the power to move us to the expression of emotion, whether it is joy or sorrow. mantra:
